Our Beliefs: The Beginning

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) “In the beginning God created…” God is an architect, a builder, and has been so since the beginning of time. He is the Creator and Originator of all things. The sun moon and stars, the waters and the earth, every living creature according to its kind, humanity: God is the Creator of all.

Humanity

Humanity was created in the likeness and image of God. Genesis 1:26 (NKJV) Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.” Man was created to have eternal fellowship and relationship with God, but became separated in that relationship as a result of sinful disobedience (Genesis 3). Man cannot regain right relationship with God by his own efforts. Our only hope is Jesus Christ.

Salvation Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the Cross for me. Thank you for paying the price for my sin. Today I turn from my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I acknowledge You as Lord and Saviour of my life. I commit my life into Your hands. Amen.

Through accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord, you can know and experience God’s love and plan for your life.

Acts 2:38 (NKJV) Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Repentance: A 180 degree turn – from one’s own way to God’s way, a complete change of direction, a decision to follow Christ. Water Baptism: Identification with Christ in death, burial and resurrection; the burying of the “old man” (the former sinful life) in a watery grave and the raising up of the “new man” to walk in the power of Christ. Holy Spirit Baptism: A personal Pentecost, an Acts 2:4 encounter, an experience with the Holy Spirit subsequent to salvation complete with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Salvation

Whether we know Him or not, He is our God. Whether we believe it or not, He is God. In the beginning God created mankind. We walked with God, we had relationship with God, we journeyed with God. One day, man embarked on another journey, a journey that separated us from God. It was sin, it was rebellion, it was disobedience. And this is the story of true history: John 3:16 (NKJV) “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This life is a journey… In the end it leads to one of two destinations… Eternity with God (Heaven), or eternity without God (Hell). Sin separated us from God. The picture is that of a great chasm; a chasm our disobedience created – us on one side, and God on the other. Our only hope of crossing this chasm is in the recognition and acceptance of Jesus Christ laying down His life. There is Salvation in one name, and that Name is Jesus. John 14:6 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Acts 4:12 (NKJV) Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Trinity

God exists in perfect unity within Himself. He exists as one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they are One. 1 John 5:7 (NKJV) For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word [Jesus Christ], and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

The Bible

The Bible is the Living Word of God. The Bible was written by human writers under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit (God). The Bible is God’s Word to every living person. Within its pages lies humanity’s hope. The answers are found in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. We find wisdom and understanding, correction and direction, all the answers to life in this one Book. The Bible is a manual for daily living – a manual for a lifetime. Immerse yourself in the story of God’s incredible grace. Read of ordinary men and women living extraordinary lives. Read of their faith, their trials, their courage, their surrender; their journey with God. The Bible is a book that will change your life.

Devotions

Christianity is a relationship. Every day we should set time aside to spend time with God. Personal devotions, family devotions; God is longing to commune with us. Take time each day to pray, worship, and read the Bible.

Church Life

Church Life is a vital part of Christianity. The Bible instructs us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV) not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

This is where we grow, this is where we flourish. Corporate Prayer, Corporate Worship, Building Relationships, Serving.

Each one of us is an important part of the local church. It is the wisdom of the Lord that we get planted and that we gather each week.

Giving

The Bible is clear concerning tithes, offerings, and alms. Tithes are 10% of our gross income, given with great joy and gratitude to the Lord. Offerings are gifts over and above the tithe, offered at the discretion and generosity of the giver. Alms are an offering of compassion and generosity given to the less fortunate.
